ETHNIC INFLUENCES...

Ethnic influence has a lot to do with apparel design. We get most of our ideas from other cultural styles we see from all over the world and incorporate them into fashions our world can connect to. Designers may use a different style but the same print. If people in a country wear an article of clothing to cover up the body, the designers here would use that style but make it more appealing to the American eye.

For example a dashiki, made lose to circulate air due to the hot climate. designers see this and come up with something a little different. An American designer turns this idea into something more reveling and fashionable, because that's what sells...They may also use the same style but a different pattern more associated with our culture.

...SPRING 2009...

When we looked at the fashion shows in class, Marc Jacobs innovation caught my eye. His collection was well layered. The colors he used were simple but had dimension. I also loved the way he took orthodox outfits and turned them into masterpieces. The look that caught my attention the most was number 11, the model had on a red hat followed by a necklace with different objects of browns that dripped over this red, and blue silvered shimmer plaid shirt. what fascinating is the fact that he has different types of orientation in one look, you have a plaid shirt over top of another design, and below is another plaid design overlaying this detailed skirt. It reminds me of when I was young playing in my mother's and grandmother's closet. But he turned around and made an amazing collection out of it.

Fashion week is one of the most talked about events in the world. You have all of these inspirational designs, new colors, and artwork in a way. Every year millions show up for this event, from fashionists to basketball players and rappers. I hope one day I get the opportunity to showcase my designs or maybe appear in a show it self.

"Anahita Moussavain", from the New York Post, described Marc Jacobs collection as Hectic, and had "outfits that looked a little bit lady, a little bit circus-y, and a whole lotta crazy". In my opinion all of those review she gave was true but thats what is was about, it was different and thats what the runways need. uniqueness!!

Clothes started out with simple fabrics. As time passes designers innovated stlye has traveled from aluminum to paper. Now some designers use organic enviormental fabrics to create their clothing. It's cheaper and saves our enviorment. And has became very stlyish. For example alternative earth. they creative organic ready to wear clothing. I think its the new stlye...everyone should began wearing enviormental clothing.

Who's My Favorite Designer?

I would have to say I don’t have a favorite fashion designer yet. Although I do have an interest in Vera Wang mainly her wedding dresses. I choose her out of the bunch from so many because her dresses appeal to everyone and anyone. Her collections are very modern and well tailored. I also like that her designs draw the attention of the woman who might work all day to the woman who might be staying at home with her kids. In conclusion I like Vera Wang because it steps up to everyone’s standards.
